Chuck & Roast

So, we bought a cow yesterday. We went in on the 2 cows with Bruce, Todd and the Gunnels. Our cow, which we are splitting with the Gunnels, Chuck is on the left and light brown, and Bruce and Todd's cow, Roast is on the right and is black. The cows are about 450 lbs each right now and we will raise them until May of 2010 which they will be 'processed' and we will get 800+ lbs of meat from each cow. We will get just over 400 lbs each family from the cows for our half and the meat will last us about a year and will average $1-2 a lb once we are done. It is exciting and a start to our year supply. Plus that will be around the time that Matt and I will both be unemployeed from ON so it will help out with our grocery bill. The kids were excited to see them yesterday and Madison got to name them with the help of Matt, Bruce and Todd. And Marcus liked to hear and see the cows. It will be a neat learning experience for us all.
